Hope and Healing After Abortion
“Do not bargain with any temptation; lock yourself immediately in My[Jesus] Heart and, at the first opportunity, reveal the temptation to the confessor…..Do not fear struggle; courage itself often intimidates temptations, and they dare not attack us.” (Diary 1760)
Fighting Despair
I do not think there is one person who has experienced abortion and is reading this that would not relate to the following quote from Mother Teresa. ” The devil may try to use hurts of life, sometimes our own mistakes, to make you feel it is impossible that Jesus really loves you, is really cleaving to you. This is a danger for all of us. And so sad because it is completely opposite of what Jesus is really wanting, waiting to tell you..He loves you always, even when you do not feel worthy“.
When I read this I found it so reflective of the way the devil temps those who have experienced abortion, to despair. That nagging voice of loss of hope for forgiveness, that assails us so often before we have reached healing.
What a comfort to see Mother Theresa had these same temptations to despair and yet, in spite of what she may have felt she knew Jesus loved her and loves us all !
Abortion healing as many aspects, emotional, spiritual and sometimes physical. The devil wants nothing more than to get us to despair of the Mercy of God, but He Himself tells us otherwise.
The next time the devil tempts you and has you feeling unforgivable and unlovable; remember these words of Mother Theresa and the truth about God’s love for you!
“Jesus goes out of His way to offer despairing souls at death a final grace of repentance. When we know of souls that may be in spiritual peril, especially the dying, we should pray that they would respond to this grace of repentance.” Pope Benedict XVI
