A Heart Contrite & Humble – Lent- March 4

For I acknowledge my offense,
and my sin is before me always:
“Against you only have I sinned,
and done what is evil in your sight.”
R.        A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.
For you are not pleased with sacrifices;
should I offer a burnt offering, you would not accept it.
My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit;
a heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.
R.        A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.

I have often said I wished I had a dollar for every person over the years who has said to me, “I can’t believe I had an abortion.”

There is often a refusal to want to believe that we could commit such an act that most times goes against all we believe in. And yet somehow, we bought into the lies, caved to the pressures or wanted something else so badly that we sacrificed our children thinking life would go back to normal, but it never does.

Many cannot understand how something like this could happen but true acknowledgment of our role in our abortion decision is crucial for healing and repentance.

Some people will take on more culpability then they should,, others blame other people without admitting their role.

A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.
For I acknowledge my offense,
and my sin is before me always:

A humble heart is one who sees things in truth. The truth about our sinfulness and the truth of the mercy of God. Our healing comes in our surrender to that truth. The truth that all of us are capable of any sin without God’s grace, a result of the original fall and that in acknowledging our sin we acknowledge our need of God and come to recognize His ultimate sacrifice of love for us and His forgiveness for our sin if in fact we have contrition.

God grace is there for reach one of us. His mercy and love are waiting for us. -Theresa

Today meditate on the fact that we are all sinners in need of His mercy and thank Him for the gift of salvation which He died on the cross to bring us.
